Rough ride

I guess last nights drive was more stressful than I thought. My shoulders have been really tight today and they aren't loosening up. Bother...

Monday

I got done early today! 2 Samuel is easy to read. I'm going have time to read the other two books that have been sitting on my bedside table for the past week. I haven't had time to crack them even once.

The cellar way has a roof!!!! La de da! *hums happy song* I helped Cay cut the metal in around the logs. Tedious work.

I'm eating a sot peppermint stick. I LOVE soft peppermint. =D Luke shared with me. I'm drooling over a 5lb bag of them on ebay....

Reading

Right now I am reading through the Bible in 90 days, with a friend. At least I think I am. I haven't heard from her since we started. (hint, hint friend) I am also rereading The Children of Green Knowe by Lucy Boston. It's a sweet little book, a young reader, but I still like it. I love how she mixes fantasy and reality, so well it's hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. The setting of the book is around Christmas. I've started reading it every year around Christmas time. I read a few pages at a time and make it last as long as I can.

I joined a book club last month. And forgot to read the assigned book! I went to the meeting anyway. I had a delightful time!! It was half a dozen older ladies sitting around in a lovely old house, snacking and talking about books. Bliss! The book was People of the Book, by Geraldine Brooks. (There's a tongue twister for you!) It sounds very interesting! I brought a copy home with me. So I will be reading that one very soon.

I like older people. They are walking history. I love hearing them reminisce. They are comfortable with who they are. I find that restful. One of the ladies is 92. Her son-in-law was my voice teacher for a little while. We also hayed her fields at one time. We were both delighted when we made the connection. Hearing her talk about people who have past set me musing. How are people going to remember me when I am gone? Please God, I pray I can leave pleasant memories. It was a very nice day.

Snow

Winter is here for real. We are working on 6 inches of snow on top of the tad that hadn't melted from a few days ago. It also hit the teens for the first time and hasn't broken above that yet. We had a few last minute things to do this morning. We were done and cozy inside before the first half inch had accumulated. I'm really proud of the family. God's been gracious. We have come a long way from ten years ago. We would still be outside scrambling to get two days worth of snow prep done, in the snow. Now I'm kinda twiddling my thumbs. :P I should go do some bible reading so I don't have all 15 chapters to read tonight. I should make bread too. I guess I just need to sit down and make a to-do list...and do it.
